Standard Lobe Piercing Sizes
Standard lobe piercings are just like other ear piercings. They are done with a special piercing needle by a piercing artist. Standard earrings, on the other hand, are sometimes done at a jewellery store, using a piercing gun. Earrings are often much thinner than piercings, so make sure to choose the correct sizes for your standard lobe piercing.
The standard bar thickness for a standard lobe piercing is 1.2 mm. The default bar length is 6 mm. The most common ball and stone sizes are 3 mm for a ball and 4 mm for a stone.
For an earring hole, the most common thickness is 0.8 mm. Some earring holes may even fit bars with a 1.0 mm thickness.
Standard Lobe Rings
Piercing rings are a popular option for standard lobe jewellery. From basic hoops to rings with crystals, there are plenty of piercing rings that can be used for the lobe piercing. Whether you prefer a more snug fit or a more loose fit, lobe rings are usually available in several diameters.
For a standard lobe piercing, the standard bar thickness is 1.2 mm. The illustration gives an idea of what each lobe ring diameter could look like in your ear. Please note that not every ear is the same, so the diameter you need can differ from this.

Other Lobe Piercing Jewellery
There are quite a few different piercing types that can fit the standard lobe piercing. In addition to the cartilage studs and piercing rings, there are two other popular options.
You can find more information about labret studs and traditional earrings below.
A labret stud is a great alternative to a normal cartilage stud. The flat back of the bar makes this the most comfortable ear stud to wear, and the ball is screwed on at the front instead of the back of the piercing. Choose the same sizes you would normally wear for your standard lobe piercing jewellery.
Classic earrings are some of the most commonly worn jewellery, and can also be worn in a lobe piercing. Please note that piercings and earrings are different. The thickness of normal earrings is much thinner than piercing bars. Wearing earrings in a piercing hole will most likely result in the piercing hole shrinking.
