Standard Rook Piercing Sizes
Traditional ear piercing studs come with a straight bar. Straight bars could also fit a rook piercing, but we recommend using a piercing ring or a curved barbell.
The standard bar thickness for a rook piercing is 1.2 mm. The standard length or diameter is 6 mm, but 8 mm could also be used. Although most piercing hoops could fit in the rook, note that ball closure rings can be a bit difficult to put in.
Curved Barbells for the Rook Piercing
A curved barbell and a rook piercing are a perfect match. There are different styles to choose from, from plain balls or crystals to beautiful figurines.
For curved barbells, the standard bar thickness is 1.2 mm and the most common bar length is 6 mm.

Rook Piercing Aftercare
Proper aftercare is important for your new rook piercing. Cartilage piercings tend to heal more slowly than other piercings. Our Piercing Healing Kit can help with the healing period and with treating inflamed or irritated skin.
For daily cleaning and care, we recommend using a saline solution such as our Salt Spray, combined with our Piercing Butter or Piercing Wonder Oil.
