Dermal Piercings
Dermal Piercing Shopping Guide
A dermal piercing is slightly different from normal piercings, as it’s a single-point piercing inserted in between the layers of the skin. The anchor under the skin can’t be changed, but we have a wide range of dermal tops for a new and improved look. Are you also in need of dermal anchors and converters? We got you covered.
In this shopping guide you can find more information about the sizes, materials and aftercare for your new dermal piercing.

Dermal Sizes
Once a dermal anchor has been placed, you cannot change it. The bar thickness of your dermal anchor is usually 1.6 mm. However, sometimes the dermal anchor could have a thickness of 1.2 mm.
Most dermal tops come with a thickness of 1.6 mm. There is no default top size. You can choose between more subtle, smaller tops, or more noticeable larger ones. The most common top sizes go from 3 mm to 5 mm.
Dermal Converter
When you have a dermal anchor with a 1.2 mm thickness, you can use a dermal converter to be able to use dermal tops with a bar thickness of 1.6 mm.
We have converters for both internally and externally threaded tops. This is a great solution for fitting a wider range of different tops on the anchor, but the converter does rise above the skin.
Dermal Retainer
There are multiple occasions when a dermal retainer might be needed. You might need to make your piercing less noticeable, or wear a plastic retainer for an MRI scan. You can find retainer tops for your dermal piercing on our website.

Dermal Piercing Aftercare
Regular aftercare is vital to your dermal piercing, as this piercing is the most likely to migrate or to be rejected by your body. It is recommended to clean it every day with a salt solution. After the first few weeks, you can use aftercare products with tea tree oil to prevent redness and inflammation, as well as aid with the overall healing process.
When using a salt solution like our Salt Spray on your dermal piercing, make sure to rinse the piercing area afterwards, and dry it carefully but properly.
